What: Workshop – Newcomer West Coast Swing

When: Saturdays 12:00 – 1:00 pm, July 8th – 29th

Where: Cedar Hill Rec Centre

Price: $50 for VBDS members, $60 for non-members.

Join us for a fun four-week series of West Coast Swing dance workshops designed for beginners and enthusiasts looking to enhance their skills. Take this opportunity to dive into the vibrant world of West Coast Swing, an elegant partner dance style renowned for its versatility and improvisational nature.

Week by week, you’ll explore fundamental techniques, rhythm variations, and dynamic footwork patterns that characterize the West Coast Swing. Our patient and dedicated instructor Victor, will break down the dance into easily digestible components, ensuring that you grasp the basic concepts while gradually building a strong foundation. Beginners will receive ample attention and guidance, empowering them to gain confidence on the dance floor.

With a focus on musicality, connection, and lead-and-follow dynamics, you’ll learn how to interpret and express the music through your movements, creating a captivating dance experience for both you and your partner. Each workshop session will blend a mixture of group exercises, partner drills, and creative practice sessions, allowing you to reinforce what you’ve learned in a supportive environment.

By the end of this four-week series, you’ll have acquired a solid understanding of West Coast Swing and its core principles. You’ll feel more comfortable on the dance floor, equipped with a repertoire of moves and styling options.

This workshop is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, with or without previous dance experience. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned dancer, these workshops offer a welcoming space to nurture your passion for West Coast Swing and take your skills to new heights.

Registration will close one-week before the start of classes and if there are inadequate numbers, the class will be cancelled.
