Musicality in the Latin Dances

This workshop will cover helpful information and exercises required to achieve better musicality in the Latin Dances.

Workshop Series Topics:

• How to Dance in Relation to Music. Although dancing with a proper technique is important, developing the ability to react and to express to the music should progress as much as the technique.

• Listening/Feeling/Executing. Through awareness of the music’s characteristics of each dance, including rhythmical patterns, musical accents and phrasing, the ability of interpretation depends on your senses, spatial awareness and facial expressions.

• Body Awareness. Learn how the body parts from toes to finger-tips work together to enhance the musicality in the execution of different figures use in the Latin Dances.

Please note, you DO NOT need a partner to register for classes or workshops. As needed, we will attempt to balance classes with volunteers. As well, while not required, students will be encouraged to change partners as this is very beneficial to learning.

Registration will close one-week before the start of classes and if there are inadequate numbers, the class will be cancelled.
