Tropical Luau Send-Off Ballroom Social Dance! Saturday May 16, 2026

Aloha, VBDS dancers! It’s time to kick off your shoes (well, not literally… dance shoes, please!) and sway into summer at our Tropical Luau Send-Off — our final big social before the summer break!

Think leis, florals, bright colours, beachy flair — an opportunity to wear coconut accessories and sunglasses after dark.

Expect island vibes, laid-back fun, and all the dancing your heart desires. Whether you’re rocking a grass skirt or just a tropical-print shirt, this is the perfect way to celebrate the season with your dance family.

We’re turning up the sunshine with a special Hawaiian dance workshop led by the wonderful Cheryl Paredes Mason from Aloha Fit Hula & Fitness! Learn graceful, fun island-inspired moves to get you in the luau mood — no partner or hula experience needed!

After the workshop, it’s time to mix, mingle, and dance the night away under the (imaginary) palm trees. We’ll have a festive mix of ballroom favourites and tropical tunes to keep the beach party vibes going.

What’s in store:

• Hawaiian dance workshop with Cheryl Paredes Mason at 7:00 pm
• Solo tables for those coming on their own
• A fun mixer to meet new dance partners
• Two ballroom-style line dances everyone can join
• Light refreshments and a welcoming atmosphere
