What: Workshop – Intro to Ballroom: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive

Level: Newcomer

When: Fridays 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm March 31st, April 14th and 21st. No class April 7 Good Friday

Price: $45.00 per person (non-members); $37.50 per person (members)

Where: Centennial United Church Assembly Hall

Over three Friday evenings, Victor will teach the basics in three standard and three Latin ballroom dances: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba and Jive. The emphasis is on having fun and dancing as a couple.

No partner but keen? Email classes@vbds.org and we’ll get someone from our pool of volunteers.

What: Workshop – Waltz and Jive

Level: Newcomer and Refresher

When: Fridays 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm March 31st to April 21st

Where: Centennial United Church Assembly Hall

Price: $37.50 for members, $45 for non-members

During each hour over three Friday evenings, approximately 30 minutes will be devoted to each dance.

Waltz: Students will learn the basics of Waltz, a graceful ballroom dance that emphasizes fluidity and elegance. The class will cover the fundamental steps, timing, and partnering techniques needed to execute a basic waltz routine. By the end of the class, students will be able to perform a simple waltz routine with a partner.

Jive: Students will learn the upbeat, energetic and fun Jive, a lively dance style that originated in the 1940s. The class will cover the basic steps, timing, and techniques needed to execute a basic Jive routine. By the end of the class, students will be able to perform a simple jive routine with a partner.

The emphasis will be on introducing new figures and technique in both dances but most importantly, having fun and dancing as a couple. This workshop is suitable for those brand new to Ballroom or those needing a refresher.
