Changing of partners at practices and classes
A member of the dance community at large sent an email concerning VBDS member solo dancers changing partners at practices.
In response I reviewed the PHO and Guidelines as posted online – they can be reviewed here.
There is no language prohibiting the changing of partners in any of the documents. The key new requirement is the maximum of 25 attendees at any event, a requirement we have implemented.
Further to that, I contacted VIHA and received written confirmation that partner changes do not contravene any rules. The Environmental Health Officer did offer a best practices suggestion “… we do recommend limiting the amount of partners (i.e. 2-3 different partners per class vs all 15 partners in a class) in order to limit potential spread.”
I would add, in these uncertain times, there is no obligation to dance with anyone you don’t want to dance with. In normal times this would be considered rude – not now.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out. The health and well being of our membership is of paramount concern to your Board and to me, as is following the directives of the most current Public Health Order.
