  • Social & welcoming community—learn at your own pace and have fun.

What’s next? Your Newcomer Journey

After the Intro, we’ll continue with a 6-week Newcomer Series to build a steady foundation and start your
committed dance journey.

The Newcomer Series requires a VBDS membership, which comes with excellent value—especially for practice time:

  • Free member practices every week — come as often as you like to polish steps and build confidence.
  • Access to all Newcomer classes and a pathway to higher levels as you progress.

Tip: Many dancers take the Intro twice, then jump into Newcomer with a solid foundation—it’s a great way to feel comfortable from day one.

Feel the Rhythm of Rumba

The Rumba is often called the “dance of love” — expressive, smooth, and full of character. It’s the perfect dance to refine balance, connection, and musicality. This fall, we’re inviting you to explore it in our Bronze and Pre-Bronze classes with Wanda Kivitt.

Bronze – Rumba

Wednesdays at 6:30 PM · Les Passmore

Our Bronze Rumba class is the essential next step for dancers looking to grow their technique and style. But it’s at risk of cancellation unless more dancers register soon. Whether you are an experienced dancer or recently completed Pre-Bronze, this is your chance to step up, deepen your skills, and be part of the pathway toward Silver level classes in 2026.

Pre-Bronze – Waltz & Cha Cha

Thursdays at 7:00 PM · Les Passmore

Not quite ready for Bronze? Our Pre-Bronze Waltz & Cha Cha class is an excellent stepping stone. Build confidence, refine fundamentals, and set yourself up to progress into Bronze next season.

A Note on Intermediate

Unfortunately, our Intermediate class had to be cancelled this session due to low enrollment.

Let’s Keep Dancing Forward

VBDS is committed to offering long-term opportunities for experienced dancers. But we can only do that together. Register now, secure your spot, and help make these classes a success. With your support, Bronze this year can grow into Silver next year — and keep the rhythm alive for all of us.

Update for experienced dancers

Update for Our Experienced Dancers

We regret to announce that the Silver/Gold Syllabus & Technique class with Victor has been cancelled this fall session. While we received requests for higher level classes, only one couple showed interest in registering for this class. As a volunteer-run society, we are committed to offering inspiring classes that are also feasible to run—and that requires a minimum number of dancers.

✨ Alternative Opportunities This Fall

Classes start next week

Classes start Monday, September 8

New session, fresh music, and a room full of people ready to move. If you’ve been meaning to get back on the floor—or try ballroom for the first time—this is your sign.

Why dance this fall?

  • Body: gentle cardio, posture, balance, and coordination.
  • Brain: patterns, timing, memory—great for focus and stress relief.
  • Confidence: expression, musicality, partnered movement.
  • Community: friendly classes and steady progress together.

Ballroom is equal parts skill and story. You show up a little nervous, tie your shoes, and the first song lifts the room. Week by week the frame settles, the feet feel lighter, and suddenly you’re listening to music differently—counting, breathing, smiling.
